Groups from throughout Central Wisconsin are joining together on August 15th, pledging to defeat the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders and rebuild our democracy. We will meet in Stevens Point for a combined protest, demonstrating our unity and combined strength in this time of crisis.

From 10 am until noon, we will gather on both sides of downtown Clark Street. The area has plenty of parking, is handicapped accessible and has public restrooms at the nearby public library.

Who are we?

Indivisible Central Wisconsin is coordinating and hosting the event, but it is being planned and organized by:

• The planning committee includes people from Adams-Friendship, Waushara County, New London, Marshfield, Wausau, Waupaca, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.

• Portage County Democratic Party is helping publicize it.

• We will be sending our lyrics from Resistance singers

• All Portage County resistance groups have been invited to participate

All individuals and groups are welcome to join us, either formally or just by showing up. A core principle behind this event is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Where?

The protest corridor is along Clark Street, on both sides, starting at 2nd Street and running east.

The main parking location is the former Shopko lot, on the corner of Main and Church streets.

There are restrooms at the public library at 1001 Main Street.

No speakers or marches are planned for this event.

If you are eating lunch in town, a "You Honk and We Donate" event will be held at Seramur Park (2000 block of Clark Street). Drive by and honk and a $1 donation will be made to a local charity. I think the time is 2-3 pm.
